Since then, we’ve done a lot of growing at Voices.com and we also have a fresh new vision for VOX Talk. If you remember the original VOX Talk, you can look forward to The Loop, The Biz, Tech Talk and of course, the VOX Box where we answer listener questions. And now that we’re caught up, let’s find out what’s in the Loop!

The Biz

Solo Narrators VS Full Cast Audiobooks
Now, we’re going to continue the conversation on audiobooks.
Recording audiobooks used to be straightforward. You found a narrator and hired them to tell the entire story. That said, times are changing. Have you been noticing a trend toward full casts narrating audiobooks?
For some publishers, it doesn’t feel right having a full cast and can make the audiobook experience feel more like an audio drama. Other producer prefers to use multiple actors in an audiobook production because it creates a new theater-like experience for the audience.
Ultimately, the decision to have a full cast of characters or a single narrator (or two) depends on the demographics for the book and whether you want the audiobook to feel like an epic production or more like story-telling.

Summer’s here, and that means, for many people, the opportunity to travel. Have you been on any trips lately, and if so, have you made use of audioguides? From previous experience, I’ve found them very helpful and have even written about them on our blog. If you would like to share about an experience narrating an audioguide or even making use of one, I’d love to hear from you. Send your audio feedback in the form of an MP3 to [email protected] and we may air your comments next week.
Thank you for listening and for staying subscribed. If you haven’t yet subscribed, you can find the VOX Talk podcast in the iTunes podcast directory or continue the conversation on Facebook. Just look for the VOX Talk Podcast.
I’m Stephanie Ciccarelli. Thank you again for joining me and we’ll see you next week.
